Finally we have a full animatic to work to. With the help of Will DuToit, we've been fine tuning the story, the times, the editing. And the tale of Lord Vladder is coming to life, even though it's been a hard transition to freelance life, I've managed to find gaps in my schedule here and there to get this thing rolling once again.

It's going to be great!

New Music Score
Sam Gilbey has been doing wonders with an orchestra-in-a-box he recently acquired, among them is a new music score for Lord Vladder's trailer. Have a listen!

The storyboard lives!

Finally after a lot of time spent drawing on the train the storyboard has been finished, now we can finally move on to the animatic. Things are moving again bwahahahahaaa!

Back in business

Hi folks! Apologies for the long absence. It's been manic times, my job has disappeared and I've been busy running in circles screaming and waving my hands in the air. Hopefully the panic's over now and Lord Vladder can raise again. I have been back on the story board and I promise I will show some sequences soon and then on to the animatic.

Story board time

After releasing the trailer I felt my cravings for seeing things moving calmed down a little bit. Now I am concentrating in the project in the proper order and gone back to refine and finish the story board. Hopefully I will soon have enough material to work on an animatic for the story, that I can share with my team of collaborators and get building.

Teaser trailer released
Good news everyone! The teaser trailer for Lord Vladder has been finally released. You can now have a peek at what this project will look like when is finished. It's all coming together nicely and I reckon by the end of the month we could have the rest of the characters rigged and steam ahead with the production. We hope you like the trailer. Enter the dragon
Weescorch the dragon is now wearing a lush textured skin thanks to William Du Toit's hard work. Now is time to rig the character and do some experiments as we will be combining two diffwrent 3D applications in order to composite the dragon into the main scene. It's going to be an interesting challenge. Also we have a proper rig for Lord Vladder built by Kevin Olson using Cactus Dan's IK tools.

Shaping up
A couple of talented character rigging experts have shown interest in jumping into this little project. It's going to be incredibly helpful and will give us a massive boost. Hopefully things will be rolling in no time and we'll have something to show the musicians so they can feel inspired and do their magic.

To top it all up, the dragon slayer is chasing me up for a scene where he can start animating him. You can tell things are really falling into place when you're being urge to produce more in your on project. It's going to be a busy weekend!

He lives!
After a lot of pushing and pulling with the riggins settings Lord Vladder is finally alive and kicking. Well not really kicking but surely throwing a wobbly. We're considering buying (ouch) an IK plugn to make the rigging of the rest of the characters easier, so we can see some real progress as the setting up is the most time consuming part of it. For the moment I'm having a blast of a time animating the evil Lord.

Throw me a bone here!
Sometimes is a little frustrating having to do all this technical stuff before I even get to move a character, I've spent the last 2 weeks rigging one of the characters' mesh and bones structure and only today I think is ready for animation, but I will be doing some tests before painting a detailed texture. Wish me luck!

Learning curve
I've spent the past 6 months studying every tutorial I could find for Cinema 4D (my software of choice for this project). Every day of the week I come to work one hour early, so I have some time to spend researching, learning and solving problems I encounter as I go. Parallel to that I've carried on storyboarding and designing the sets. Currently I'm going through over 16 hours of video tutorials on Bodypaint 3D, which I got from Nigel Doyle, the nice man behind
